EPDE observes presidential elections in Poland
During its visit to Poland, the observers will meet several election stakeholders – authorities, candidates’ teams, NGOs and monitoring missions. “We observed several electoral processes in the EU and its neighboring countries in the past several months and years”, says Lilia Shibanova, founder and long-term director of the domestic election observers’ network Golos from Russia. “We are interested in the functioning of the polish electoral system and want to discuss the best practices which we observed in different countries with our polish partners”.
The polish Forum of Young Diplomats will assist the EPDE in monitoring the election day. “The common observation with the EPDE members is a sign of solidarity and support for those who are target of increasing repressions in their home countries”, says Karol Bijos, director of the FMD.
Two public discussions are planned by the observers before and after the election day. The first discussion will concern the role and challenges of the election observation In the Eastern Europe, especially in Russia, where the Golos observers are target of increasing harassment and repressions, The second meeting will focus on the conduct of the elections in Poland. Both meetings will take place in Warsaw, Bookhouse café at Świętokrzyska 14:
